Stan Chambers has always wanted to tell stories, and throughout his 10-year career as an award-winning professional journalist, he has written thousands of newspaper articles about people at their best and worst moments.
When Stan joined PEFNC in February 2011 to oversee communications efforts, he quickly found that emotions are also powerful when it comes to parents wanting the best for their child, but are unable to obtain it. Stan has used his writing, photography and video abilities to share the stories that must be told. Doing so has allowed Stan to fulfill his passion of wanting to make a difference, and has led to more than 400 earned media mentions for the organization since joining PEFNC, including coverage in every major media market across North Carolina.
Along with handling media requests, Stan works closely with journalists to highlight PEFNC’s efforts and shares accurate information regarding parental school choice facts and efforts. He also oversees PEFNC’s writing, photography, video and graphic design needs.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Stan came to North Carolina in 2003 as a crime reporter for The Daily Reflector in Greenville. He moved to the Triangle in 2005 where he covered crime, education and general assignment for The News & Observer. A 2001 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J., Stan currently lives in Raleigh with his wife, Amanda.
