PA public charter focuses on medical field

Seeing a need for qualified employees in the medical field, a public charter school in Lehigh County, PA is working to fill those positions.

The Medical Academy Charter School in Catasauqua, PA focuses on preparing its students for careers in the medical field. The curriculum merges health care sciences with students’ general classes. In addition to health profession classes, the school will also offer field trips, internships, and job shadowing. School enrollment is currently 138 students; however, there’s still room for another 60 students. Within the next several years, 400 students will have the opportunity to enroll.

“This is where the jobs are going to be now and in the near future. It’s ever growing,” said Joanna Hughes, CEO and principal of the school, which opened in September to 9th and 10th graders.
