May 24, 2012: House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education released their budget recommendations today. K-12 public schools were given some relief under the education subcommittee’s budget. The budget calls for a restoration of roughly two-thirds of a scheduled $500 million discretionary cut to public schools next year. The committee decided to replace the $259 million in federal money set to run out, and erase the $74 million reduction in state money that was set to occur next year.

If the full House approves the budget, the bill will then move to the Senate. Please here to view the budget document. Please click here to view the budget special provisions.
