The NC Public Charter School Advisory Council’s Policy Subcommittee met today and discussed possibly accepting public charter applications through a rolling application process. This would help prevent the Council from having to review a large number of applications at one time. Schools will need to submit their Letter of Intent by January 4, 2013 before the final application deadline of March 15, 2013. The applications will be reviewed by the Council before being sent to the State Board of Education in April 2013.
The NC Public Charter School Advisory Council’s Impact Subcommittee also met and talked about how impact statements from LEAs are to be reviewed and considered. The subcommittee decided to discuss this further at the full Council’s September 11-12 meeting in order to determine if the statements should be considered at the committee, council, or state levels. They also briefly discussed how to measure the impact of virtual charter schools and decided the Council needs to look at this further.
The Advisory Council will meet next on September 11-12.
